Patna: The four-day Agro Bihar 2026 Agricultural Mechanization Fair, held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna from March 12, concluded successfully on Sunday. Organized by the Bihar Department of Agriculture in collaboration with CII, the fair provided farmers with a platform to explore modern agricultural machinery, innovative techniques, and government schemes aimed at making farming more efficient and profitable.

Massive Participation and Government Support

The fair saw participation from over 35,000 farmers and visitors from across Bihar and neighboring states. During the event, a total of 395 agricultural implements were purchased, and farmers availed a government subsidy of ₹1.85 crore. The market value of the purchased equipment was approximately ₹4.78 crore. On the final day alone, 1,840 farmers visited the fair, demonstrating the high level of engagement and interest in mechanized farming solutions.

Focus on Modern and Profitable Farming

Speaking at the event, Ram Kripal Yadav, Bihar’s Agriculture Minister, emphasized that the fair was more than an exhibition. “Agro Bihar 2026 has emerged as a strong platform to make farming modern, cost-effective, and more profitable,” he said. The minister thanked agricultural equipment manufacturers and exhibitors for helping farmers understand how technology can complement traditional farming methods.

He also highlighted the state government’s agriculture roadmap, which focuses on irrigation, seeds, horticulture, mechanization, and other farmer-centric schemes under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, aiming to strengthen the agricultural sector across Bihar.

Largest Mechanization Fair in Eastern India

Narmdeshwar Lal, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, described Agro Bihar as the largest agricultural mechanization fair in Eastern India. Held annually since 2011, the fair aims to educate farmers about modern tools and technologies, helping them adopt faster, simpler, and more cost-effective farming practices.

The event included exhibits from sectors such as food processing, animal husbandry, fisheries, sugar industry, and cooperative initiatives, allowing farmers to gain comprehensive knowledge about relevant government schemes and innovations.

Exhibits, Awards, and Recognition

According to Saurabh Suman Yadav, Agriculture Director, the fair featured stalls not only for agricultural implements but also for horticulture, seeds, plant protection, soil conservation, fertilizers, and processed agricultural products. Visitors could interact with exhibitors and purchase equipment and inputs directly from the stalls.

At the closing ceremony, companies and departmental officials were recognized with certificates and mementos. Birla Tyres received the first prize for best exhibition, Havells India won the second prize, and Shaktimaan secured third place.

Boosting Mechanization and Farmer Benefits

The fair demonstrated how mechanization can reduce labor pressure, increase productivity, and make farming more scientific and profitable. With significant government subsidies, farmers were encouraged to invest in modern tools, contributing to long-term agricultural development in Bihar.

By combining innovation, government support, and hands-on demonstration, Agro Bihar 2026 successfully showcased the transformative potential of modern agriculture for the state’s farming community.
