In a stirring tribute to the relentless efforts of police personnel battling left-wing extremism, Chhattisgarh Governor Mr. Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai jointly praised the state police force for their unwavering courage and service during the Police Commemoration Day ceremony held in Mana. The leaders expressed deep gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against Naxalism and confidently projected that Chhattisgarh will be Maoist-free by March 2026.
Saluting the Brave: Homage to Fallen Heroes
Addressing the gathering at the 4th Battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Mr. Deka paid floral tributes to martyred police personnel. He emphasized that the “indomitable courage, valour and supreme sacrifice of the police will forever be remembered and revered by the nation.”
The observance of Police Commemoration Day served as a reminder of the continued dedication and bravery of officers deployed in some of the country’s most challenging conflict zones.
A Strong Mandate Against Maoism
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards Naxalism, asserting that coordinated efforts between central security forces and state police have significantly weakened Maoist infrastructure in recent years.
He stated, “With strategic policing, strong community engagement, and infrastructure expansion in previously inaccessible areas, the government is confident that Chhattisgarh will be completely free of Maoist violence by March 2026.”
Development as a Weapon Against Insurgency
The state administration has been working on a dual-front approach: enhanced security operations alongside inclusive development initiatives in Naxal-affected areas. The objective is not just to defeat Maoism militarily, but also to win the trust of tribal communities and improve access to education, healthcare, and employment.
Mr. Sai emphasized that empowering the youth, expanding road networks, and improving digital connectivity in rural and forested areas has been central to the success of this campaign.
Policy Push: Modernisation and Welfare for Police Forces
On this occasion, Mr. Deka and Mr. Sai both reiterated the state’s commitment to modernizing the police force through better equipment, specialized anti-Naxal training, and enhanced welfare schemes for personnel and their families. The government has already undertaken multiple measures to improve the working conditions and morale of police forces operating in high-risk zones.
