Jharkhand marked its State Foundation Day on Saturday with a massive developmental push as Governor Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs. 8,799 crore. The major announcements reflected the state’s long-term developmental vision and commitment to honouring tribal identity and heritage.

Major Development Projects Announced
Out of the total amount, Rs. 4,475 crore worth of new projects were launched and Rs. 4,324 crore worth of completed projects were inaugurated. Addressing the event, Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren said that the state government is working with a vision for the next 25 years to build a stronger, more prosperous Jharkhand. He highlighted the state’s national contribution, stating that no other state has enriched the country as much as Jharkhand through its mineral, cultural, and human resources.
Tributes to Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda
The celebrations coincided with the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Governor Mr. Gangwar, Chief Minister Mr. Soren, and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Mr. Jual Oram visited Ulihatu, his ancestral village in Khunti district, where they performed traditional rituals and offered floral tributes.
The dignitaries honoured Birsa Munda’s descendants by presenting them shawls and mementos, recognising their family’s historical significance and contribution to the state’s cultural identity.
Statewide Celebrations and Homage in Ranchi
Later, the Governor, Chief Minister Mr. Soren, and MLA Ms. Kalpana Soren paid homage at Birsa Munda’s samadhi site in Kokar, Ranchi. The state celebrated the occasion with ceremonies, cultural performances, and tributes across all districts, reflecting the deep respect Jharkhand holds for its tribal heritage.
The Chief Minister noted that State Foundation Day celebrations this year symbolize both cultural pride and a renewed focus on inclusive development for all communities.
