Madhya Pradesh is gearing up to celebrate Gita Jayanti and the International Gita Festival 2025 with extensive programs that combine spiritual engagement, education, and community participation. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has emphasized meticulous preparation to ensure a dignified and impactful celebration.
Preparations for Online Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Knowledge Competition
An online Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Gyan competition will run from November 7 to 25, offering 70 prizes to mark Madhya Pradesh’s 70th foundation year. The first prize is Rs. 1 lakh, second prize Rs. 51,000, and three third prizes of Rs. 31,000. Additional incentives include 15 laptops, 30 e-bikes, 20 e-rickshaws, and two-year scholarships for students aged 11 to 25. Prisoners in jails will also be eligible to participate, highlighting inclusivity in this knowledge-driven initiative.
International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra and Ujjain
From November 24 to December 1, Kurukshetra will host the International Gita Mahotsav 2025. Stalls featuring Madhya Pradesh’s regional and tribal cuisines will be set up alongside exhibitions, fairs, and theatre performances by artists such as Mr. Puneet Issar, Mr. Mohit Shewani, and Mr. Shirish Rajpurohit. Tribal dances presented by the Tribal Museum will showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Ujjain will host events from December 1 to 3, including Gita recitations, poetry, and musical performances. A massive target of 21 lakh participants has been set for the online Gita Gyan competition. The festival will also spotlight performances from Bangalore and Bhopal-based musical groups.
Statewide Programs and Community Engagement
District-level Gita recitations will be held at significant Krishna-related locations such as Janapav in Indore, Amjhera in Dhar, and Narayana in Ujjain. Decorations in Krishna temples, lectures by saints, and intellectual sessions will complement the celebrations, reflecting Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to spiritual education and cultural development.
Future Cultural Initiatives: Vikramotsav 2026
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also discussed preparations for Vikramotsav 2026, slated from February 15 to March 19. The festival will include Kalash Yatra, craft workshops, folk entertainment, mythological film screenings, and Veda Antakshari competitions. District-level events will ensure community participation and preservation of Madhya Pradesh’s cultural heritage.
Senior officials and the Chief Minister’s Culture Advisor, Shri Shriram Tiwari, were present at the meeting to coordinate these extensive initiatives.
