In a landmark move aimed at transforming Madhya Pradesh into a world-class tourism destination, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart 2025 in Bhopal on October 11, highlighting major developments in tourism, investment, infrastructure, and global outreach. The event has already attracted investment proposals worth Rs. 3,665 crore, with participation from 27 countries, setting a new benchmark in India’s tourism-led economic growth.
Rs. 3,665 Crore Investment to Fuel Tourism-Led Growth
At the inaugural session, Dr. Yadav announced that over 20 companies have signed investment proposals across sectors like luxury resorts, eco-tourism, hotel infrastructure, and travel services. Some of the key investors include Treasure Group (Rs. 600 crore), The Malwa Club (Rs. 500 crore), and Post Card Hotels (Rs. 250 crore). This surge in investment underscores rising global confidence in Madhya Pradesh’s tourism ecosystem.
In a significant moment, a Letter of Award worth Rs. 386 crore was issued to Indore Treasure Town Pvt. Ltd. for two major eco-tourism and hospitality projects in Raisen and Khandwa districts.
Travel Mart to Be an Annual Global Tourism Platform
The Chief Minister declared that the Travel Mart will now be held every year from October 11–13 in Bhopal, establishing it as a recurring international platform to showcase the state’s cultural, natural, and historical assets.
“This Mart is not just an event—it’s a vision of how tourism can power youth employment, global collaboration, and rural transformation,” Dr. Yadav stated.
Strategic Infrastructure and Air Connectivity Push
Highlighting connectivity as a growth driver, Dr. Yadav announced the launch of regional helicopter services across three key sectors to improve accessibility to tourist hotspots, religious sites, and wildlife parks. Madhya Pradesh currently boasts:
- 8 airports
- 230 helipads
- Expanding road connectivity to heritage and religious destinations
He also emphasized that 30% subsidies are available for tourism-related industries, and that the state offers India’s only air ambulance service under the Ayushman Bharat Card.
Cultural Renaissance through Cinema, Music, and Heritage
To promote creative tourism and film production, a landmark MoU was signed between Ms. Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and the Madhya Pradesh Government. Balaji Telefilms will invest Rs. 50 crore over the next five years to produce films, web series, and documentaries showcasing the state’s cultural richness.
The new MP Tourism TVC, “The Sitarist”, featuring Ms. Anushka Shankar, was also launched. The campaign connects global audiences with the spiritual and artistic soul of Madhya Pradesh.
Eco, Health, and Adventure Tourism Get a Strong Boost
Several key developments in eco-tourism, medical tourism, and adventure tourism were announced:
- A MoU with Prathavi Bird Foundation to boost bird tourism
- New partnerships with EaseMyTrip, Kallergi Tales, and Aagman India Travel for tent cities and digital promotion
- Strengthening of health tourism with 13 new medical colleges inaugurated, inviting both domestic and international patients
Union Tourism Minister Praises MP as ‘Powerhouse of Creativity’
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, lauded Madhya Pradesh’s policies, infrastructure, and inclusive tourism development approach. “Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a model tourism state, thanks to robust reforms, GST advantages, and excellent coordination between heritage and hospitality,” he said.
Tourism Policy Backed by Strong Bureaucratic Ecosystem
Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain emphasized that 18 progressive policies in place are facilitating investor confidence and regulatory ease. Madhya Pradesh currently has the highest number of national parks in India, and is preparing to host the World Rose Convention and Simhastha 2028, further enhancing its global profile.
