Leadership Updates: PESB Recommends Subhasis Sengupta as Director (Operations) of RINL

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Subhasis Sengupta for the post of Director (Operations) at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise. The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 19/2026, held on March 10, 2026, in New Delhi.

Selection Process and Candidate Overview

The selection process involved interviewing 12 senior candidates from various public sector organisations, including NTPC Limited, Cement Corporation of India Limited, NMDC Limited, and internal RINL executives. After rigorous evaluation, Subhasis Sengupta, currently serving as Chief General Manager (Projects) at the Durgapur Steel Plant of SAIL, was recommended for the prestigious role.

The position of Director (Operations) is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing operational performance, plant operations, production efficiency, and process optimization at RINL’s integrated steel plant.

Role and Responsibilities

As Director (Operations), Sengupta will play a key role in:

  • Managing daily operations of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

  • Implementing strategic operational initiatives aligned with RINL’s growth and sustainability goals.

The role is vital for maintaining RINL’s position as a major contributor to India’s steel production sector.

Next Steps in the Appointment

Following the PESB recommendation, the appointment of Subhasis Sengupta will be subject to approval from the competent authorities. Once finalized, he will take over the operations portfolio at RINL and contribute to the company’s strategic and operational growth.
