Preparations are underway to develop 408 tourist destinations across various tehsils of Uttar Pradesh. The Tourism Department has instructed regional tourism officers to prepare detailed action plans for each site. These destinations include heritage landmarks, religious sites, little-known attractions, and other high-potential tourist spots, aiming to elevate even remote areas into major tourism hubs.
Public Participation in Shaping Tourism
Under Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath’s Tourism Development Participation Scheme, district magistrates submitted proposals for tourist site development based on inputs from local public representatives. This inclusive approach ensures that local voices guide the growth of tourism while maintaining cultural and environmental integrity. Each assembly constituency and tehsil is slated to have at least one upgraded tourist destination in addition to existing popular sites.
Modern Amenities for Visitors
The Tourism Department plans to equip these sites with information boards, proper roads, drinking water facilities, toilets, lighting, and rest areas. These upgrades are aimed at enhancing visitor experience, ensuring safety, and promoting sustainable tourism across the state. Most of the 408 proposed sites have already reached agreement stages for development into fully functional tourist centers.
Actionable Plans and Monitoring
Regional tourism officers have been tasked with submitting comprehensive reports and detailed action plans for each site. Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Director General of the Tourism Department, highlighted that these measures will ensure timely implementation and continuous monitoring, reflecting the state government’s commitment to tourism as a driver of economic growth under Mr. Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.
