Uttarakhand marked a major milestone in India’s digital transformation journey by hosting the AI Impact Summit 2025 on October 17 at Hotel Ramada, Dehradun. This strategic prelude to the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 reflects the state’s growing prominence in leveraging artificial intelligence for governance, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
Jointly organised by the Government of Uttarakhand, the India AI Mission, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the summit gathered top policymakers, industry leaders, startups, and academics to discuss the responsible and transformative deployment of AI.
The summit aligns with the Digital Uttarakhand Vision and India’s broader goal of building an ethical, people-centric AI ecosystem.
Mr. Jitin Prasada Inaugurates Summit, Highlights Balance Between Innovation and Ethics
Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Mr. Jitin Prasada, inaugurated the summit, highlighting the critical need to balance AI innovation with ethical responsibility. He emphasized that technology must serve people equitably and foster trust in AI systems.
AI-powered startups supported by IIM Kashipur and STPI Dehradun showcased sector-specific innovations in healthcare, agriculture, education, and environmental monitoring, tailored to address Uttarakhand’s unique geographical and socio-economic challenges.
From Hill to Hi-Tech: AI to Drive Uttarakhand’s Digital Future
The summit is a cornerstone of Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision to transform Uttarakhand from “Hill to Hi-Tech.” Sessions were held on the state’s IT roadmap and AI governance strategy, with an emphasis on creating AI Centres of Excellence, innovation hubs, and capacity-building programs for public officials and entrepreneurs.
Officials stressed that AI must enhance transparency, citizen engagement, and public service delivery, making governance more effective and accessible, especially in remote hill regions.
Promoting Inclusive and Climate-Resilient AI
A key highlight of the summit was its focus on inclusive and sustainable AI adoption. Panel discussions addressed digital equity, literacy, and the need to ensure that rural and underserved communities benefit from AI technologies.
The integration of AI into climate resilience efforts in the Himalayan region was also emphasized, given the ecological sensitivity of Uttarakhand. AI’s role in improving access to education, telemedicine, and disaster management featured prominently.
This vision aligns with the principles of the India AI Mission—safety, transparency, human-centric innovation, and digital trust.
