New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed Inderjeet Singh, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, as Director in the Ministry of Culture, New Delhi, for a period of five years. The appointment, made under the Central Staffing Scheme, was formally approved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in an order issued on Friday, August 8, 2025.

According to the order, Singh is to be relieved of his current responsibilities in Rajasthan and join the new assignment in the Ministry of Culture immediately. He will serve in the role either for five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

About Inderjeet Singh: A Profile in Leadership and Innovation

Inderjeet Singh holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, USA. Over his decade-plus career in public service, Singh has gained a reputation for innovation, governance reform, and digital transformation across multiple domains in Rajasthan.

Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Special Secretary and Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology & Communication (DoIT&C) and Managing Director of RAJCOMP Info Services Ltd, Government of Rajasthan. His leadership helped drive major e-governance initiatives in the state.

He has also served as:

  • Managing Director, RIICO (Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation)
  • Commissioner, Rajasthan Housing Board
  • Commissioner, College Education
  • Additional Director, Industries Department
  • Recognition for Excellence

In September 2024, Singh was awarded the Silver Award at the 27th National Conference on e-Governance for the “Rajkisan Saathi Phase-II” initiative — a flagship digital service aimed at supporting farmers in Rajasthan through integrated platforms.

He is known for his contributions to digital public services, policy design, and industrial development. His appointment to the Ministry of Culture marks a significant transition from state-focused reforms to a broader national role in shaping India’s cultural outreach and preservation efforts.

Strengthening Cultural Administration at the Centre

At the Ministry of Culture, Singh is expected to play a key role in strategic program planning, digital integration of cultural platforms, and promoting India’s cultural diplomacy in alignment with the government’s vision of “Virasat se Vikas tak” — development rooted in heritage.

His blend of academic excellence, administrative experience, and a strong track record in technology-led governance is seen as a valuable asset for the Centre’s ongoing efforts to modernize cultural policy and administration.
