New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to inaugurate the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE 2025), scheduled to take place from October 15 to 17 at the prestigious Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Ministry of Railways, the event is expected to be the largest and most impactful edition yet.
First launched in 1990, IREE has grown into Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest rail and transportation technology exhibition. The 2025 edition will feature participation from over 450 exhibitors across 15+ countries, showcasing more than 30,000 state-of-the-art railway and metro products, innovations, and sustainable solutions.
“IREE 2025 is a vital platform that connects Indian Railways with global technology leaders. It reflects India’s engineering excellence while fostering collaboration on sustainable and efficient railway solutions,” the CII said in its official statement.
A Platform for Innovation, Partnership, and Modernisation
CII emphasized that IREE has become a cornerstone for driving innovation in the railway sector, reflecting decades of fruitful collaboration between Indian Railways and the industry. The exhibition plays a key role in modernising India’s railway infrastructure, promoting private sector participation, and attracting foreign investment and technology partnerships.
“With the support of the Ministry of Railways, IREE 2025 aims to foster innovation, facilitate business partnerships and showcase India’s growing capabilities in railway technology,” said B Thiagarajan, Chairman of the CII Trade Fair Council.
India’s railway network is currently the third largest in the world, and its rapid expansion aligns with the government’s vision of building a world-class, future-ready transportation ecosystem. IREE 2025 is expected to support this mission by creating a high-impact forum where industry leaders, policy-makers, technology providers, and engineers can connect and collaborate.
Global Participation, Local Excellence
CII noted that the 2025 edition would further cement India’s role as a hub for railway innovation and engineering excellence, with strong representation from Indian Railways as well as global rail technology giants. The exhibition will cover a diverse array of sectors including:
- Rolling stock manufacturing
- Railway electrification
- Signalling and telecommunication systems
- Smart station technologies
- AI, IoT, and automation in railways
- Green and sustainable transport solutions
Supporting India’s Vision for a World-Class Rail Network
The exhibition is being seen as a major step toward achieving India’s ambitious goals in rail modernisation and self-reliance in manufacturing under initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. With new-age technologies and international collaborations at the forefront, IREE 2025 is set to offer insights into the future of urban mobility, freight movement, and passenger safety.
The event will also host seminars, B2B meetings, and technology showcases, offering unmatched networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities for stakeholders across the railway ecosystem.
