Simhastha 2028: CM Mohan Yadav Reviews Ujjain’s Preparations, Emphasizes Rapid Infrastructure Development

Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing preparations for Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain and conducted a surprise inspection of the road widening work between KD Gate and Nikas Square. During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with residents who have voluntarily removed parts of their houses to facilitate the development work and expressed his gratitude for their cooperation.

Dr. Yadav said that the widening of the historic marketplace road would bring a new direction to the city’s development and boost local trade. He directed officials to ensure that eligible citizens voluntarily contributing to the project be provided benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He further instructed that all construction work be carried out swiftly, keeping in mind the convenience of the people.

CM Yadav Inaugurates Police Welfare Petrol Pump

Later in the day, Chief Minister Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed Police Welfare Society petrol pump at the Ujjain Police Lines. Marking the occasion, he personally filled petrol in a few vehicles, symbolizing his appreciation for the efforts of police personnel and welfare initiatives aimed at their benefit.

Participates in Chhath Puja, Announces Construction of Mithila Ghat at Vikram Sarovar

Earlier in the morning, Dr. Mohan Yadav participated in the Chhath Puja celebrations at Vikram Sarovar, where he offered Arghya (sacred water offering) to the Sun God. Calling Vikram Sarovar a symbol of Emperor Vikramaditya’s valor, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a Mithila Ghat at the site.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yadav said, “Chhath Puja is a festival deeply rooted in scientific and spiritual traditions. It teaches self-discipline, restraint, and willpower while celebrating the life-giving energy of the Sun and the purity of water.”

The Chief Minister praised Bihar’s cultural and intellectual legacy, describing it as the land of Lord Buddha and Mahavira—a region that has guided not only India but the entire world through knowledge and wisdom. He added, “Bihar produces the highest number of IAS and IPS officers in the country. People from Bihar have established their identity across India through simplicity, capability, and excellence.

MP-Bihar’s Ancient Connection Highlighted

Highlighting the ancient connection between Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is known as the ‘Maiyka of Rivers’ (the maternal home of rivers), as its rivers—Shipra, Chambal, Parvati, and Narmada—flow eastward, connecting to the Ganga and enriching Bihar. He also noted that the Sone River, originating from Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh, flows into Bihar through the Ganga, symbolizing the eternal bond between the two states.
