Uttarakhand Foundation Day 2025: A Silver Jubilee Celebration

This year’s celebration emphasizes the silver jubilee of Uttarakhand’s formation, highlighting the state’s progress in governance, infrastructure, and socio-economic development. Citizens across the state commemorate the day with cultural programs, spiritual events, and tributes to the leaders and activists who fought tirelessly for statehood.

Chief Minister Dhami Pays Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee

In a detailed post on X, Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami called the day a “silver jubilee of struggle, values, and dedication.” He paid homage to former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, noting that the state’s creation was a result of his farsighted leadership that gave Devbhoomi a distinct identity.

Remarkable Progress in Development

Highlighting the achievements of the double-engine BJP government, Mr. Dhami stated that Uttarakhand has seen significant growth in connectivity, infrastructure, industry, tourism, education, health, and women’s empowerment. He emphasized that the state’s development model ensures harmony between environmental conservation and economic progress.

Tourism and Pilgrimage Initiatives

The Chief Minister underscored the success of initiatives like the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and temple redevelopment projects, which have redefined Uttarakhand as a spiritual and tourism hub. These initiatives, combined with industrial investments, are positioning the state among India’s top performers in the Sustainable Development Goals Index.

Record Industrial Investments

Uttarakhand has attracted record industrial investments worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore, with over Rs one lakh crore already realized, making it a growing destination for businesses across sectors including manufacturing, electronics, agro-industry, and renewable energy.

The Journey of Uttarakhand’s Formation

The state’s creation reflects decades of struggle and determination by its people. Previously part of Uttar Pradesh, the region’s distinct identity and unique geographical circumstances fueled the demand for separate statehood. November 9, 2000, became a historic day as Uttarakhand officially gained recognition as India’s 27th state.

Spiritual and Environmental Significance

Uttarakhand Foundation Day is not only a celebration of statehood but also of the harmony between humanity and nature. From the snow-capped Himalayas to sacred rivers and pilgrimage sites such as Kedarnath and Badrinath, the state is a unique blend of spirituality, culture, and natural beauty. The day inspires citizens to uphold Uttarakhand’s heritage and ensure sustainable growth for future generations.
