IPS officer Mrityunjay Singh is a police officer who manages to be both tough and soft at the same time. How? He is tough and carries a no-nonsense attitude while at his job but gives vent to his softer and sensitive side through his writings. The 1987-batch officer has officially retired but is currently handling the post of DG, Homeguard, Kolkata, post retirement.
While he added many feathers to his cap as an efficient police officer, he has also been steadily earning accolades for his creative writings. He is a poet, singer, lyricist and novelist.
Hailing from Sonbarsa, Bihar, Mr. Singh was inclined towards poetry since his childhood. In the early days of his career, he explored his creativity further and took it to the next level. In 2007, his poem collection, Kirchen, was published. He has also written various songs for Bhopuri music albums. He has also written a song for the critically acclaimed film, Chokher Bali, directed by Rituporno Ghosh. He has also written a novel in Bhojpuri language, titled Ganga Ratan Vidheshi.
In a video interview to Indian Masterminds, Mr. Singh talks about his recent creation, Draupadi. He not only shared about the inspiration behind it, but also talked about how this character of Mahabharata has inspired him in life.
