In a major reshuffle ahead of the panchayat elections in the state, the West Bengal government on Thursday transferred 51 senior IPS officers.
Additional Director General (ADG-western zone) Sanjay Singh will take charge as ADG of the Special Task Force (STF). ADG (STF) Gyanwant Singh will be ADG (Armed Police).
Inspector General of Police (IGP, Police Recruitment Board) Vishal Garg has been transferred to the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Kolkata Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP-crime) Murli Dhar and JCP (headquarters) Subhankar Sinha Sarkar will take charge as additional commissioners of police. S Subhra Chakraborty will be new JCP (crime) in Kolkata and JCP (traffic) Santosh Pandey will hold the post of JCP (headquarters).
Diamond Harbour Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhritiman Sarkar has been transferred to West Medinipur. West Medinipur SP Dinesh Kumar has been transferred as DCP (Central) in Kolkata.
Bidhannagar DCP Praveen Prakash will be new Darjeeling SP. Jangipur SP Bhola Pandey has been transferred as Commanding Officer (CO) of the 3rd Battalion. Tenth Battalion CO Rahul Goswami will be the new Jangipur SP. Bankura DIG Meeraj Khalid has been transferred as DIG (Purulia). IG (Correctional Service) Imran Wahab will be IG (provisioning). DIG (traffic, West Bengal) Sukesh Jain has been made IGP (traffic).
Deputy Inspector General (DIG, State Crime Record Bureau) Neeloo Sherpa has been made IGP of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB). Kolkata JCP Kalyan Mukhopadhyay has been made additional CP, Kolkata Police.
