She belongs to the 2017 batch of IPS and Jharkhand cadre
Indian Masterminds Stories

Reeshma Ramesan, a 2017-batch Jharkhand cadre IPS officer, took over as Superintendent of Police (SP) Palamu from departing SP Chandan Kumar Sinha. Reeshma Ramesan is Palamu’s first lady superintendent of police, as the town has never had a female superintendent of police before.

Reeshma Ramesan is the wife of Latehar SP, Anjani Anjan. She is from Kerala, but speaks Hindi with ease. She does Chhath Puja and witnessed the Maha Lok Parv with her husband at Latehar the previous year.

The new SP urged the residents of Palamu to maintain communal harmony and amity, free of hostility, mistrust, and rancour. She said, “My effort as SP will be to bring the police closer to the public and vice versa, as after all, police are for whom, surely it is for the public ultimately.”
