Mr. Kailash Makwana (1988 batch IPS officer) previously served as the DG of Lakyukta

A 1988-batch IPS officer, Mr. Kailash Makwana, is finally eligible for the rank of DGP of Madhya Pradesh after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav improved his confidential report (CR) that was given a poor grade by Lokayukta NK Gupta.

As it had happened, while serving as the Director General of SPE Lokayukta, Mr. Makwana was given a low six out of ten marks in his CR by Justice NK Gupta. To make matters worse for the officer, Justice Gupta also put a question mark on his integrity, challenging his uprightness.

Mr. Makwana approached CM Yadav, who, on the grounds of the officer’s application, gave him a ten out of ten marks in his CR and turned down the previous CR written by the Lokayukta.

Thanks to CM Yadav, Mr. Makwana’s name shall now be included in the panel that will be sent to the UPSC for selecting an officer for the post of Director General of Police (DGP). The incumbent DGP, Mr. Sudhir Saxena (1992 Batch IPS), is set to retire by the end of this year, and the MP Government is going to send a panel consisting of three names to UPSC to appoint a new DGP to succeed Mr. Saxena.
