New candidates aspiring to get into the civil services usually require a guiding hand or a lead towards a proper path- at least initially. Some take the help of coaching centres to prepare, while others manage to do it on their own. However, every aspirant, at least once in their life, turns to the internet or books that may guide them and make them understand that they are going in the right direction.
Keeping this in mind, IAS officer, Mr. Sanket Bhondve has recently launched his book called “IAS chi paulwaat” – a book that will help in inspiring and motivating the youth to get into Indian Administrative Services and do their best.
IAS CHI PAULWAAT
The book by Mr. Bhondve aims to guide the aspirants towards their dreams and help them in understanding the underlying values laid out for a person who wishes to enter into the civil service and work for their country. He is a 2007 batch IAS officer and the book has just released its seventh edition.
Exhorting the political leaders and administration officials to consider financially backward, downtrodden, and ‘Divyaangs’ (disabled) as part of their families, the book focuses on the five point formula for success. These are: determination, commitment, hard work, aim, and parental guidance.
The officer’s book deals with this particular aspect, meticulously. It states that “in a welfare state, the civil officials should carry positivity, transparency, quest for corruption free administration and capacity to take timely decisions. An officer should be conscious of the quality of work that he does.”
PARENT’S CONTRIBUTION IN MAKING THE OFFICER A CULTURALLY RICH PERSON
The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Mr. Nitin Gadkari released the book officially to the public. The launch meet, virtually hosted several prominent figures such as Vice Chancellor of D Y Patil Deemed University, Dr. P D Patil, Pune’s former Divisional Commissioner Mr. Dileep Band and Mr. Vishal Soni of Vishwakarma Publications.
In the meeting, Mr. Gadkari, who closely knows Mr. Bhondve and his family, told the public that the officer received cultural lessons from his parents since he was a little child. His parents have played a great role in molding him culturally which can be clear from his work where he reveals the finer details on how to pass Indian Administrative Service.
Mr Gadkari said, “The book would prove to be inspiring and path breaking for the budding students as well as youths who aspire to become IAS officers. The work done by Sanket Bhondve for the betterment of senior citizens and ‘Divyaang’, with a sense of social responsibility is praiseworthy.”
According to him, the book will also help to increase the percentage of Maharashtrians in the IAS cadre.
ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE SERVICE
Previously, as Collector of Ujjain, Mr. Bhondve received a national award in 2017 from President Ram Nath Kovind for initiatives taken for senior citizens of the district. He regularized pensions of more than 39,000 elderly people at `panchayat’, level besides giving support to another 2150 under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana during his tenure there. He also started several day-care centres for senior citizens in the rural areas of the district.
Prior to that, as Collector of Hoshangabad district, Mr Bhondve was honored with the National Award for Excellent Work in the field of rehabilitation and uplift of differently-able people in 2015. The late former Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley presented the award to him on behalf of the Prime Minister. Mr Bhondve introduced several welfare programmes and activities in Hoshangabad for the differently-able people and it yielded encouraging results for which the district was shortlisted in the category of ‘best districts’ by the Central government.
