UPSC Exam is a Hard Nut to Crack!! ChatGPT Proved it Now.

Popular AI Chatbot ChatGPT has failed the toughest examination of the country - UPSC. The chatbox could only answer 54 out of the 100 UPSC questions presented to it. This proves that our bureaucrats are even smarter than the AI based app. Stay tuned to see what the toppers have to say about this.

According to breaking news making the rounds on the internet today, the increasingly popular ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer), an artificial intelligence chatbot designed to generate articles that resemble human writing based on input, has failed the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Service Examination, known as the “mother of all examinations”, as it is believed to be the toughest examination of India.

According to sources, the AI chatbot could only respond to 54 of the 100 questions from UPSC Prelims 2022 Question Paper 1 (Set A). Taking into mind the cut-off from the previous year, the well-known ChatGPT significantly underperformed on the UPSC CSE test.

Questions about geography, the economy, history, ecology, general science, and current events were asked of the chatbot. According to reports, ChatGPT did not respond because the current events queries also had a 2022 focus. The report does assert, however, that ChatGPT gave incorrect responses to questions from categories like general science, geography, and economy.

This certainly strengthens the fact that the bureaucrats of our country, who have actually cleared the toughest examination of UPSC solely with their determination and hard work, are better and brighter than the AI-based chatbot.

Want to know what our bureaucrats have to say about this?

IAS OMKAR PAWAR

2021 batch IAS Omkar Pawar says, “There is a catch in the report as ChatGPT has a database till Nov 2021 and the UPSC prelims exam which was provided was of the year 2022. Hence, there will be anomalies but after I saw the report I saw the AI was not able to solve even the basic geography and economics questions.”

He further added, “ChatGPT can only solve those questions whose information is available on the internet. UPSC in any case has many types of questions, some of them are out of the box and can be only solved by a human mind after accumulating several pieces of information they have read before.”

IAS SANJEEV MAURYA

Currently posted as CDO Balrampur, IAS officer Sanjeev Maurya says, “UPSC is one of the toughest exams. It needs critical and analytical thinking skills with the ability to think and infer the meaning of the question and the options available. It’s way beyond written learning. AI ChatGPT may have failed on these aspects which may have led to its low score thereby failing the UPSC prelims. The UPSC exam is not only about information and knowledge. It’s more about how one utilizes the given knowledge.”
