Indian Masterminds interacted with toppers of the UPPCS-2022, who faced queries on accountability, responsibility, corruption, besides ‘Operation Dost’, and the ‘Collegium System’.

DIVYA SIKARWAR, RANK 1

“I was asked situational questions from my optional subject which were difficult,” she said. Ms. Sikarwar, who cracked PCS in third attempt, was asked to explain how she would work in rural areas with new ideas.

PRATIKSHA PANDEY, RANK 2

Ms. Pandey, who cleared PCS in her fifth attempt, was asked about her women idols. She chose former supercop Kiran Bedi and billionaire businesswoman Falguni Nayar of Nykaa.

She was asked how she would end social inequality? Besides facing queries on poverty, caste discrimination, inter-caste marriages, and the importance of biodiversity.

AKANKSHA GUPTA, RANK 4

Ms. Gupta faced questions on live-in relationships, marriage, caste, and international relations. She was asked about her opinion on girls getting married very late nowadays, and its social
impact.

“They wanted to know about the Shazar stone from Banda and which river it comes from and its significance?” she said.

KUMAR GAURAV, RANK 5

The boys’ topper said his job exposure did him good. He feels he was lucky to have come across questions related to his current posting as BSA.

He gave his take on the government spending crores on basic education and yet not achieving
any major improvement.  Besides situational ones, “if the cook failed to deliver despite
resources, whom will you fix the onus on?

MOHSINA BANO, RANK 7

Ms. Bano, from MP, cracked UPPCS in her second attempt. She was asked women-specific questions — women labour, their less participation in jobs, strategy for reducing child marriages, besides what are the President of India’s qualifications.

“I was asked to name the countries being affected most by China’s interference in the South China Sea and what role India could play? Also about the Defense Corridor coming up in Uttar Pradesh,” she said.

PRAJAKTA TRIPATHI, RANK 8

Ms. Tripathi already working in the home ministry, faced questions on her job profile and international relations.

Most questions were women centric, like, what would she do for women in the health sector? Besides, on women empowerment.

AISHWARYA DUBEY, RANK 9

It was Ms. Dubey’s 2nd attempt and she was asked questions related to dowry, rural India and moral values. She was given a situation where she had to deal with a dowry case. Ms Dubey resorted to counseling.

SANDEEP KUMAR TIWARI, RANK 10

Mr. Tiwari, a software engineer, faced questions on his choice of optional — Philosophy. The B.Tech who cleared PCS in his seventh attempt, was you could have done much better as an engineer, why civil services?

The interviewers vollied him with augmented and virtual reality (VR), including their use in movies, besides questions on homosexuality, climate change and NATO’s impact on Asia.

SHANTUN SINSINWAR, RANK 11

Mr. Sinsinwar’s interview lasted almost half an hour, and he was asked about 5 kinds of millets, what would his promotion strategy be for “shree anna” in Bundelkhand.

He was told: “Don’t you think you wasted the government’s resources by availing subsidised education at NIT Jalandhar as you will not cater to the industrial sector? How will you promote farmer’s income as SDM Jhansi or stand up against political pressure to turn a blind eye to illegal activities?

But what was toughest was the Russian roulette: “Where do you see responsibility without authority, and authority without responsibility? Don’t you think that without authority you will have negligible impact on society? Which is more important, responsibility without authority or authority without responsibility?

ASHISH BHARDWAJ, RANK 12

Mr. Bhardwaj cracked UP PCS-2022 with 12th rank and faced questions on his GST job background and taxes. His Interview was more analytical than factual.

Whatever be the questions the toppers were clear about one thing, be confident and answer and be genuine, do not fake a response.
