A 1996 batch IPS officer, CharuSinha has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Srinagar sector. It is for the first time when a female officer has been appointed to this placet. An order regarding her appointment was issued on Monday. Sinha’s appointment is also crucial as Srinagar sector is one of the most sensitive areas in the country. After taking charge of IG, she will be responsible for all the operations conducted there.
This is not the first time when she has been assigned with such important posts. Prior to this, she was serving as the IG of CRPF for Jammu and had a very successful tenure. Now PS Ranpise will head the Jammu Sector.
One of the most courageous officers, Ms.Sinha also worked as IG, Bihar sector in CRPF. Many anti-Naxals operations were carried out under her leadership in Bihar. Ms Sinha will be replacing Pramod Kumar Pandey as she take charge of CRPF in Srinagar Sector.
The Srinagar Sector for CRPF which is located was established in 2005 and is functioning since then. It has operational jurisdiction in Budgam, Ganderbal, Srinagar as well as the Union Territory of Ladakh. It has 2 ranges, 22 executive units and 3 Mahila companies.
Along with Ms.Sinha, six other IPS officers and 4 senior cadre officers have also been transferred or appointed in CRPF. These include IPS officers MaheshwarDayal who has been posted in the Jharkhand sector, and RajuBhargava who has been appointed as IG (Work) in CRPF.
