2018 batch IPS officer Archit Chandak, who is an IITian and hails from Nagpur, has returned to his home city as DCP. He has been handed over the charge of economic offence wing (EoW) and cyber cell.

Chandak, 29, is the newest entry in the club of city-bred cops like Hemant Nagrale, Nilesh Bharne, Prashant Burade and other who donned the khaki after cracking UPSC.

A mechanical engineer from IIT-Delhi, Chandak grew up in Shankar Nagar and studied at Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, till Std X.

Chandak said, “I intend to appeal to the liaison officials in banks and financial institutions to follow ethical practices to prevent financial frauds.”

He returned to the city from Nanded on promotion as deputy commissioner of police (DCP). Chandak, a chess player with Fide rating of 1,820, had also completed the 42km Mumbai Marathon.

“Smart study and focused preparations are needed to crack UPSC rather than slogging mindlessly,” he says.

His wife Saumya Sharma is also an IAS officer and currently serving as the CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad.
