Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida) DM and 2007 batch IAS officer Suhas LY has been transferred. He has been handling this responsibility for the last 3 years. 2011 batch IAS officer Manish Kumar Verma has been appointed as the new DM of Noida. He is currently serving as the DM of Jaunpur district.
Mr. Suhas LY was promoted last month. Due to which his transfer was due. He has gone to Spain for a tournament. In his absence, 2003 batch IAS officer Ms Ritu Maheshwari, who is CEO of Greater Noida Authority and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, has got an additional charge of the District Magistrate of Noida. But now, Mr. Verma has been appointed as the DM of city and Mr. Suhas LY has been transferred in Sports Ministry. On this Sunday, Mr. Suhas won a bronze medal in Men’s Singles Spanish Para-badminton international tournament. In a tweet he said, “Happy to win Bronze medal in Men’s Singles Spanish Para badminton International. Jai Hind.”
WHO IS MANISH VERMA
39 year old Mr. Verma originally hails from Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He passed the prestigious UPSC CSE exam with 61 AIR in 2011. He completed his graduation in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, one of the most prestigious institutes in the country. He was working in Deutsche Bank when he started preparing for UPSC exams. He started his administrative career as a Probationary Magistrate from Pilibhit. After that he was Chief Development Officer in Mathura and Pratapgarh. Before Jaunpur, he was the District Magistrate of Kaushambi.
This is his second posting in Gautam Budh Nagar. Earlier, he was posted as Additional Chief Executive Officer in Noida Authority in the year 2017 for 15 days. Then, he was transferred once again as the District Magistrate of Kaushambi.
Talking about his personal life, he is son-in-law of flamboyant IPS officer Rajkumar Vishwakarma, the Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police.
ABOUT SUHAS LY
Mr. Verma’s predecessor, 40-year-old Suhas LY, who is also a professional para-badminton player, had a three-year successful stint in Noida and he led the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, he has been appointed as the secretary of the sports department. Suhas was sent to Gautam Budh Nagar during the epidemic caused by Corona virus. At that time he was the DM of Azamgarh. On one hand, Suhas LY played a brilliant administrative innings in Gautam Budh Nagar, while at the same time he has also performed brilliantly in many national and international sports events. He bagged immense popularity, when he secured a silver medal in the last Para-Olympics in 2021, becoming the first-ever IAS officer to win a medal at the paralympics.
In November 2021, Suhas was conferred the Arjuna Award by then President Ram Nath Kovind at a special ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. He received UP’s Lakshman Award on January 24, 2023. He also received the Yash Bharti award in December 2016. Earlier, he has served as the district magistrate in Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, Hathras and Maharajganj. He has been honored with many awards by the Central and State Government.
