Kerala Transfer: Two IPS Become DGP, Two ADGPs Shifted

In a major reshuffle in police administration, the Kerala government promoted two senior most ADGP grade officers to the DGP grade and assigned them new responsibilities.

IPS officer of 1989 batch Kerala cadre K Padmakumar, ADGP, Headquarters, was promoted and appointed DGP of the Prisons Department. 1990 batch officer Shaik Darvesh Saheb, ADGP, Crime Branch has been appointed DGP of Fire and Rescue Services after promotion. The promotions of the ADGPs came close on the heels of the retirement of senior IPS officers Aananthakrishnan S and S Sandhya from service on 31 May.

Meanwhile, incumbent prisons ADGP 1997 batch IPS Balram Kumar Upadhyay has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Headquarters. H Venkatesh (IPS:1998:KL), ADGP, Armed Police Battalion, has been appointed as ADGP, Crime Branch.
