Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday ordered the transfer of two senior IPS officers, reshuffling top-level responsibilities at the Additional Director General (ADG) rank in the state capital. The move is being seen as part of a routine administrative reorganisation aimed at strengthening key police departments.

Senior home department officials confirmed that the reshuffle involves changes in leadership at the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board and the Criminal Investigation Department Uttar Pradesh (CID).

Nilabja Chaudhary Posted as ADG, Recruitment Board

Nilabja Chaudhary (IPS RR 2000), who was serving as ADG, CID, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, has been appointed as ADG of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Lucknow.

In her new role, she will oversee large-scale recruitment drives and promotion processes within the state police force – a critical responsibility given the scale of police hiring in India’s most populous state.

Ashutosh Kumar Takes Charge as ADG, CID

In a reciprocal transfer, Ashutosh Kumar (IPS RR 2001), who was serving as ADG of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, has been posted as ADG, CID, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.

As head of the CID, he will supervise investigations into serious crimes and oversee specialised investigative operations across the state.

Administrative Reorganisation to Strengthen Key Wings

Officials stated that the reshuffle effectively swaps the portfolios of the two senior officers, both of whom have held significant operational and administrative responsibilities during their careers.

The move is aimed at reinforcing the functioning of two critical departments — the CID, which handles sensitive and high-profile investigations, and the Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, which manages recruitment examinations, promotions, and personnel-related processes for the Uttar Pradesh Police.

The transfers come as part of ongoing administrative adjustments designed to enhance efficiency and governance within the state police structure.
