In a major reshuffle aimed at bolstering security in West Singhbhum, as many as 289 soldiers and officers, with expertise in local language and geography, have been transferred to Chaibasa, Jharkhand. The transferred personnel, ranging from constables to police inspectors, had earlier expressed their willingness to serve in the district.

Out of the 289, a total of 247 personnel are natives of Chaibasa (West Singhbhum), while the remaining 42 hail from neighbouring districts such as East Singhbhum, Seraikela, Khunti, and Ranchi. This transfer initiative was spearheaded by DGP Mr. Anurag Gupta (1990-batch IPS officer), who had invited officers and jawans interested in returning to West Singhbhum or seeking new postings elsewhere to submit their requests.
Following their nominations, the transfers were processed at the police headquarters. The strategic posting of local personnel is expected to yield significant benefits, as their understanding of the local terrain, culture, and language will help them in reconnecting with the local population and encouraging those astray to rejoin the mainstream. Their presence is also anticipated to sharpen the ongoing anti-Naxal campaign in the region.
Simultaneously, 248 soldiers and officers who had been posted in Chaibasa for extended periods have been transferred to other district units. These personnel had applied for transfers online via a QR code system, and their requests were duly considered by police headquarters before final orders were issued.
The Jharkhand Police is intensifying its efforts in the Saranda area under Operation Clean. Movement of newly deployed troops has increased significantly, signaling preparations for a decisive push against Naxalites. The operation includes the participation of Jharkhand Jaguar, the Chaibasa District Force, COBRA units, and various battalions of the CRPF.
Additionally, jawans who recently achieved success in anti-Naxal operations in Bokaro have been deployed in Chaibasa to strengthen the campaign. DGP Mr. Anurag Gupta has issued a stern warning to Naxalites, urging them to surrender under the government’s rehabilitation policy or face elimination. The forces aim to deliver a decisive blow to Naxalites in the Saranda region before the onset of the monsoon season.
