Jammu: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the promotion of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers posted in Jammu and Kashmir to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Officers Promoted
The officers who have been promoted include:
- Tejinder Singh – promoted to IGP rank
- Abdul Jabbar – granted proforma promotion
- Udaybhaskar Billa – granted proforma promotion
Promotion Details
The promotions are to the IGP grade under Level 14 of the Pay Matrix. These will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
This move reflects the government’s recognition of the officers’ service and contribution in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, where policing demands high vigilance and strategic administration.
Significance of the Promotion
The IGP rank is a senior position in the police hierarchy, often responsible for overseeing operations in a region or handling key departmental portfolios.
