The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has approved the proforma promotion of six Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers of the 2007 batch to the grade of Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes in the Senior Administrative Grade (SAG). The promotions are effective from January 30, 2025.
These promotions have been granted under the Next Below Rule (NBR) through proforma promotion, a mechanism designed to ensure that officers on deputation are not deprived of their rightful career progression. Under this rule, senior officers temporarily posted outside their parent cadre can receive notional promotions when their juniors in the cadre are promoted.

- Ms. Manasa Gangotri Kata (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3239; DoB: January 7, 1984) – Currently on central deputation and serving as Director in the Department of Financial Services since December 2, 2024.
- Mr. Vivek (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3242; DoB: January 15, 1980) – On deputation as Additional Director (Coordination & Administration), Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, since December 21, 2023.
- Dr. Neha Garg (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3248; DoB: October 26, 1982) – Recently repatriated to parent cadre after her tenure as Director in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, repatriated in March 2025.
- Mr. M Arun Kanth (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3270; DoB: August 15, 1983) – Granted proforma promotion to the Commissioner grade.
- Ms. Vijayarani S (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3280; DoB: August 20, 1973) – Currently serving as Regional Director (North) at FSSAI.
- Mr. J Mohammed Navfal (2007-batch IRS officer; Emp ID 3281; DoB: December 28, 1980) – On deputation to the Tamil Nadu Government and posted as Additional Commissioner (Intelligence), Commercial Taxes, Chennai.
These proforma promotions uphold the principle of fair advancement and maintain seniority parity among officers, even during deputation assignments.
