Chandigarh: In a key administrative move, the Haryana Government on April 10, 2026, ordered the transfer and fresh posting of 2015-batch IPS officer Mohit Handa. He has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP), State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Panchkula, with immediate effect.

According to an official order issued by the Home Department, Mohit Handa has been posted as SP, State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Haryana, Panchkula. The position was vacant, and his appointment is seen as significant given the sensitive nature of vigilance and anti-corruption work.

He will continue to hold additional charges as AIG/Welfare at Police Headquarters (PHQ) and SP, Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB).

Professional Journey in Haryana Police

Mohit Handa, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2015 batch from the Haryana cadre, has held several important positions during his career.

He began his policing journey in Panchkula as an ASP under training and also served as SHO in Chandimandir. Over the years, he has worked closely with district administration and policing systems, gaining field-level experience.

He has also served as:

  • Superintendent of Police (SP), Ambala
  • Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Panchkula (from February 2020), where he played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Officer on Special Duty as ADC to the Governor for nearly ten months
  • Posted in Dadri in an inland policing role

His return to Panchkula in a senior capacity marks a full-circle moment in his career.

Corporate Career Before Civil Services

Before joining the civil services, Handa had a diverse corporate background. He worked with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for two years and later held roles in management and consulting with HCL and KPMG. He also briefly worked with an analytics firm.

Driven by a desire to serve in public administration, he appeared for the Civil Services Examination. In his first attempt, he was selected for the Railways service, but in his second attempt, he secured a position in the Indian Police Service, opting for a role with greater public interface.

Early Life and Education

Born on August 14, 1983, in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Mohit Handa spent much of his early life moving across cities due to his father’s transferable job.

His educational background includes:

  • Schooling up to Class 10 in Jalandhar
  • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Jalandhar
  • MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi

Role Significance

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau plays a crucial role in maintaining transparency and accountability in governance. Handa’s appointment to this post highlights the government’s focus on strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms in the state.
