Chandigarh: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has transferred five IAS officers, including Markfed Managing Director Girish Dayalan, with immediate effect. The reshuffle also includes the transfer of one PCS officer and one IFS officer to important positions.
- 2005 batch IAS officer Basant Garg, who is serving as Secretary of Agriculture, has been assigned the additional charge of Nodal Officer for the Anti-Drug Campaign. Previously, this charge was held by Rahul Tiwari, an IAS officer of 1996 batch.
- 2009-batch IAS officer Sonali Giri, who is currently serving as Managing Director, PUNSUP; Director, Civil Aviation (additional charge); and Secretary, Revenue & Rehabilitation (additional charge), will now continue as Managing Director, PUNSUP, and also hold the additional charges of Administrative Secretary-cum-Director, Civil Aviation, and Secretary, Revenue & Rehabilitation.
- 2010 batch IAS officer Kumar Amit, Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been given the additional charge of MD, Markfed (Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited), taking over Girish Dayalan’s responsibilities.
- Girish Dayalan, an IAS of 2011 batch and the current MD of Markfed, has been relieved of his charge amidst the ongoing wheat procurement season. Additionally, his responsibilities for the Good Governance and Information Technology Department have been handed over to Amit Talwar.
- 2013-batch IAS officer Amit Talwar, currently serving as Managing Director, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, has now been assigned additional responsibilities. He will continue as Managing Director, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, and will also hold the additional charges of Director, Good Governance & Information Technology, and Chief Executive Officer, Punjab State e-Governance Society, relieving Shri Girish Dayalan, IAS of these responsibilities.
- 2013-batch IAS officer Hargunjit Kaur, presently serving as Special Secretary, Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads), and Secretary, Punjab Development Commission (additional charge), has been given further responsibilities. She will now serve as Special Secretary, Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads), Secretary, Punjab Development Commission, and also take additional charge as Special Secretary, Food Processing, Mission Director, Food Processing, and Managing Director, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Ltd., relieving Shri Kumar Amit, IAS of these charges.
In another key changes –
- Kalpana K., a 2014-batch IFS (Indian Forest Service) officer, has been appointed as the Additional Secretary of School Education, replacing IFS officer Churchil Kumar.
- 2016-batch PCS officer Gurinder Singh Sodhi has been posted as the Director of School Education (Secondary) after his repatriation from the Chandigarh Administration
These changes reflect the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts to streamline governance and make adjustments in key administrative positions.
