In a significant late-night administrative reshuffle on Monday, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government transferred nine IAS officers, including several senior officials, reshaping the bureaucratic landscape across key departments.

According to the official order issued by the state government, Sugarcane Commissioner Prabhu Narain (PN) Singh, an IAS officer of 2007 bath, has been put on the waiting list. Replacing him, 2009 batch IAS officer and Secretary of UP-RERA (Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority), Mr Pramod Kumar Upadhyay has been appointed as the new Sugarcane Commissioner.

Among the other major changes, 2002 batch IAS officer Sameer Verma, who was serving as Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, has now been assigned the post of Inspector General, Registration, Uttar Pradesh.

2009 batch IAS officer Bhupendra S. Chaudhary, Secretary of Public Works Department, has been entrusted with the responsibility of Commissioner, Food and Logistics.

Meanwhile, 2010 batch IAS officer Dr. Heera Lal, currently the State Nodal Officer for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, will now serve as Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

2007 batch IAS officer Naveen Kumar GS, Secretary of the Irrigation Department, has been given additional charge as the State Nodal Officer for the same central irrigation scheme.

Further changes include 2009 batch IAS officer Vaibhav Srivastava, Secretary of the Home Department, who has now been appointed as the Managing Director of PCDF (Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation), along with responsibilities as Secretary for both Women Welfare and Panchayati Raj departments.

2008 batch IAS officer B. Chandrakala has been relieved of her role as Secretary, Panchayati Raj, but will continue as Secretary, Women Welfare. Meanwhile, 2011 batch IAS officer Amit Singh, who was serving as Special Secretary of Urban Development and Managing Director of Jal Nigam (Urban), will now take over as Secretary, Panchayati Raj.

This reshuffle follows the recent high-profile appointment of Vijay Kiran Anand, credited for his effective role in organizing the Maha Kumbh Mela, as Secretary of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest UP.

The shake-up is seen as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline governance and strengthen the administrative machinery ahead of key policy implementations and development goals.
