ACC Approves Tenure Extension of IREDA CMD Pradip Kumar Das Until June 2026 – Know More About Him

The decision follows a recommendation from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), which had earlier extended Das's tenure beyond his current five-year term set to conclude on May 5, 2025.

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the tenure of Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), until his superannuation on June 30, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The decision follows a recommendation from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), which had earlier extended Das’s tenure beyond his current five-year term set to conclude on May 5, 2025. The formal approval was conveyed through orders issued on May 13 by the ACC and communicated by MNRE on May 14, 2025.

“In furtherance to our earlier letter dated May 1, 2025, this is to inform you that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (‘MNRE’) vide its order dated 14.05.2025 has conveyed that Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (‘ACC’) vide its order dated 13.05.2025 has approved the extension of tenure of Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), IREDA for a period w.e.f. 06.05.2025 till the date of his superannuation i.e. 30.06.2026, or until further orders whichever is earlier,” IREDA said in a stock exchange filing on Wednesday.

Mr Das, who has led IREDA since 2020, has been credited with driving the organization’s robust growth and reinforcing its pivotal role in financing renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives across India. Under his leadership, IREDA has significantly improved its financial performance and expanded its portfolio, aligning closely with India’s renewable energy goals.

Before joining IREDA, Mr. Das served as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ITDC). He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

With decades of experience in the finance sector, Mr. Das has worked with several key public sector organizations, including REC, BHEL, NPCIL, BHPV, and KPL. He has contributed significantly to the formulation and implementation of innovative policies, system reforms, business process re-engineering, and product development across various organizations.
