New Delhi – The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given its nod to several crucial administrative proposals, including senior-level postings and upgradations in the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. These approvals reflect the Centre’s continued emphasis on recognizing experienced officers with enhanced responsibilities in strategic departments.
Two FCI General Managers Get Post Upgraded to Joint Secretary Rank
In a significant move, the ACC has approved the Department of Food & Public Distribution’s proposal to temporarily upgrade the positions of two General Managers in the FCI to the level of Joint Secretary. This upgradation, effective on a personal basis, elevates their roles to Pay Level 14 in the Pay Matrix.
The officers benefitting from this decision are:
Vishesh Garhpale, IAS officer of the 2008 batch from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, currently serving as General Manager (Madhya Pradesh), FCI. His post has been upgraded to Joint Secretary level till 7 September 2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Sharandeep Kaur Brar, IAS officer of the 2009 batch from the Haryana cadre, presently posted as General Manager (Haryana), FCI. Her upgraded tenure will remain valid till 20 August 2026 or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The temporary upgradation is aimed at enhancing operational leadership in critical regional offices of the FCI, responsible for overseeing food grain procurement, storage, and distribution.
Prashant Kumar Singh Appointed Secretary of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes
In another key appointment, Prashant Kumar Singh, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Manipur cadre, has been appointed as the Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). He replaces Puneet Kumar Goel, an IAS officer of the 1991 batch from the AGMUT cadre.
Mr. Singh brings with him extensive administrative experience from diverse postings in the northeastern states and at the Centre. His appointment is expected to bolster the NCST’s ongoing efforts toward policy advocacy, rights protection, and tribal welfare initiatives.
