New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the redesignation of two officers from the 2012 batch of different services to the rank of Director, effective January 1, 2026. The officers are currently serving as Deputy Secretaries in separate departments.
Officers Elevated to Director Rank
The ACC’s decision includes:
Karamjeet Kaur (IES: 2012) – She is currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence Production. Her post has been upgraded to the rank of Director in the same department for a tenure lasting until November 22, 2029. Her central deputation tenure commenced on November 22, 2024.
Pavan Kumar Malapati (IAS: 2012: KN) – Serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, his post has been re-designated as Director for a period extending up to June 17, 2030. His central deputation tenure is effective from June 18, 2025.

The elevation of these officers reflects the ACC’s ongoing efforts to recognize senior-level experience and performance within central services.
