New Delhi: In a recent administrative move, 1993 batch IRS (IT) Officer Gangadhar Panda, currently serving as Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in New Delhi under the Department of Commerce, has been repatriated to his parent cadre.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the repatriation order on Saturday, approving the Department of Commerce’s proposal for his premature return on personal grounds.
Mr Panda had taken over the post in January 2023, following a major reshuffle of senior bureaucrats announced on December 30, 2022, which involved the reassignment of 19 officers at the Joint Secretary level.
His return to the parent cadre marks the end of a brief but significant tenure at the DGFT, during which he contributed to key policy matters concerning India’s foreign trade administration.
The name of his successor at the DGFT has not yet been announced.
