Centre reshuffles 13 senior IIS officers across key media bodies like PIB, AIR, DD, and IIMC to enhance public communication and outreach strategy.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) on Tuesday announced a major reshuffle in the Indian Information Service (IIS), transferring 13 Group ‘A’ officers across top positions in the country’s central media and communication ecosystem, including Press Information Bureau (PIB), All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan (DD), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).

This administrative exercise comes as part of routine cadre restructuring and aims to strengthen information dissemination across platforms and regions.

Key Appointments and Changes

  • Anupama Bhatnagar, currently Vice Chancellor, IIMC, New Delhi (on additional charge from DG, PIB), has now been formally posted as Director General, PIB, New Delhi.
  • Pragya Paliwal Gaur, DG (News), AIR, has been shifted to DG (M&C), PIB, Guwahati and also given additional charge of VC, IIMC, New Delhi, until a full-time appointment is made.
  • R.K. Jain, ADG, DPD, has been moved to ADG (News), AIR, New Delhi, and will concurrently hold charge as DG (News), AIR.
  • Abhishek Dayal, ADG (M&C), PIB, New Delhi, has been relieved of additional charge of PIB, Patna.
  • Gaurav Khare will now serve as Director, CBC, New Delhi, instead of his earlier proposed posting as Director (News), AIR.
  • Amit Kumar, Director, Doordarshan HQ, has been reassigned as Director (M&C), PIB, New Delhi.
  • Suresh Kumar Gedela, returning from deputation and leave, has been posted as Director (M&C), PIB, Vijayawada.

Deputy & Assistant-Level Transfers

  • Deshmukh Nikhil Shivajirao will now serve as Deputy Director (M&C), PIB, New Delhi.
  • Gagandeep Kaur, previously at DPR (Defence), Jalandhar, has been shifted to Deputy Director (News), Doordarshan, Jalandhar, while retaining additional responsibilities.
  • Sangeeta Godbole has been posted as Deputy Director (News), AIR, Mumbai, moving from Doordarshan Mumbai.
  • Madhav Bhaurao Jayabhaye continues at AIR, Pune, now with expanded responsibilities, covering CBC Pune and PIB Pune till a training assignment concludes.
  • Nikita Joshi is now posted as Assistant Director (News), Doordarshan, Mumbai, transferring from PIB, Mumbai.
  • Shailesh Phaye, previously awaiting posting, will now serve as Assistant Director, DPR (Defence), Chandigarh.

Strategic Importance of Transfers

The reshuffle touches some of the most strategic public communication roles in the country. Key highlights include:

  • Assignments involving dual responsibilities in news and training (IIMC).
  • Expanded regional presence in Guwahati, Vijayawada, Pune, and Chandigarh.
  • Efforts to ensure continuity in media content generation and dissemination at both national and regional levels.

These moves are likely to enhance coordination among central media units like PIB, AIR, DD, CBC, and boost the government’s outreach strategy.
