New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ajit Kumar Mishra as Director (Works) of IRCON International Limited, a leading public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. The official order was issued on May 13, following a recommendation by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB).
Mr Mishra is currently serving as Executive Director (Contract Management) at the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), another PSU under the Ministry of Railways. He was selected for the new role after a PESB interview held on February 1, 2025, where 11 candidates were considered. The shortlist included seven candidates from IRCON itself and one each from RITES Limited, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), DFCCIL, and Indian Railways.
As Director (Works), Mishra will oversee IRCON’s core project execution functions, both in India and abroad. His responsibilities will span the full project lifecycle – from planning, estimation, and conceptualization to execution – across infrastructure sectors. He is also tasked with enhancing project management frameworks, ensuring alignment with national indigenization initiatives, and upholding regulatory compliance.
IRCON, renowned for its work in transport infrastructure, particularly railways, highways, and bridges, is expected to gain from Mishra’s deep sectoral expertise as it continues to expand its domestic and international footprint.
