Amit Kumar, an IPS officer of the 2006 AGMUT cadre, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General in the NIA. He is currently serving as Deputy Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency. An official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, confirmed that the competent authority has approved the NIA’s proposal to elevate Mr. Kumar to the post of Inspector General. His promotion will be effective from the date he assumes the new role.
This development follows his recent empanelment on January 2, 2025, for holding an IG-level position at the Centre.
