Amidst a recent development, the Election Commission of India mandated the transfer of as many as 6 IPS (SPs) and 3 IAS officers (DCs) across Andhra Pradesh ahead of the state legislative and LS Polls in 2024.

The transferred IAS officers are Mr. G Lakshmisha (2013 batch), the incumbent collector of Tirupati; Ms. M Gowthami (2014 batch), posted as the collector of Anantapuramu; and Mr. P Raja Babu (2013 batch), the collector of Krishna. All these District Collectors received transfer orders from the ECI.

The transferred IPS officers are Mr. G Pala Raju (2005 batch), IG of Guntur Range; Mr. P Parameswar Reddy, SP of Prakasam district; Mr. Y Ravi Sankara Reddy, SP of Palnadu district; Mr. P Joshua (1991 batch), SP of Chittoor district; Mr. KKN Anburajan (2011 batch), SP of Ananthapuramu district; and Mr. K Tirumaleswar Reddy, SP of Nellore district.

The poll body instructed Andhra Pradesh’s chief secretary to suggest the names of three alternative officers for each officer being transferred, so it could select one from among the three for each of the positions.

The ECI mentioned, “The commission has also directed that aforesaid officers hand over charge to the officer immediately below in rank and that these officers should not be assigned any election-related works till completion of simultaneous elections to the legislative assembly and house of the people in Andhra Pradesh.”
