Ayesha Fatima is going to be the first Muslim woman IPS officer in Telangana. She is a 2022-batch officer from Madhya Pradesh and secured 184th rank in the UPSC CSE. She is among the 10 additional IPS officers allocated to the state by the Centre.
Chief minister Revanth Reddy made an appeal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the IPS officer during their maiden meeting in New Delhi earlier this month. CM Reddy told Mr. Shah that only 76 IPS officers were allotted to Telangana during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He requested the Home Minister to sanction 29 additional IPS posts to the state in view of creation of new districts and for supervision of various departments. The Centre has allocated 10 IPS officers for now.
Ms. Fatima is one of the 10 officers. She completed 12th grade at Model Public School and became an electrical engineer after graduating from SGSITS college, Indore in 2015. After the urge to contribute to society, she embarked on her UPSC journey from 2019 and eventually joined IPS.
