In a strong demonstration of civic responsibility and community participation, the Municipal Council Bahadurgarh conducted a large-scale cleanliness drive at a severely polluted stretch of a minor canal located along Bhagwan Parshuram Road in Bahadurgarh. The initiative was carried out under the leadership of District Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Mr. Abhinav Siwach, with active support from environmental volunteers and local citizens.

The campaign focused on one of the city’s most affected water channels, where waste and debris had accumulated significantly over time, creating both environmental and sanitation concerns.

Highly Polluted Canal Stretch Identified as Critical Clean-Up Zone

The selected stretch of the minor canal had become one of the most polluted points in the city, with visible garbage buildup and obstruction in the natural water flow. Recognizing the urgency, the Municipal Council prioritized immediate action to restore cleanliness and improve environmental conditions in the area.

Officials highlighted that such water bodies play an essential role in urban drainage and ecological balance, making their maintenance a critical civic responsibility.

Coordinated Cleanliness Operation with Community Participation

The cleanliness drive saw coordinated efforts from Municipal Council sanitation workers, members of the Clean & Green Trust, and local residents. The joint operation focused on removing solid waste, clearing debris, and restoring the natural condition of the canal stretch. Despite the scale of pollution, the combined team successfully completed the cleaning operation within approximately three hours, significantly improving the condition of the site.

Leadership and Civic Appeal by DMC Abhinav Siwach

Speaking during the initiative, DMC Mr. Abhinav Siwach emphasized that canals, drains, and water channels are vital public assets that must be protected from pollution and misuse. He appreciated the efforts of sanitation workers, volunteers, and citizens who contributed to the successful execution of the drive. He also stressed the importance of responsible waste disposal practices and urged residents not to dump garbage into canals, drains, or other water bodies, as such actions directly impact urban health and environmental sustainability.

Awareness Campaign on Environmental Responsibility

Alongside the physical cleanup, the drive also served as an awareness initiative. Volunteers and officials interacted with local residents to highlight the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and protecting water resources. Citizens were encouraged to adopt sustainable habits and actively support civic authorities in keeping their surroundings clean. The initiative reinforced the message that long-term urban cleanliness depends on consistent public cooperation.

Municipal Council’s Commitment to a Cleaner and Greener City

The Municipal Council Bahadurgarh reaffirmed its commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and healthier urban environment. Officials stated that similar community-driven cleanliness initiatives will continue to be organized across the city to address pollution hotspots and promote environmental awareness.

The successful completion of this drive reflects the impact of coordinated civic action and community engagement in improving urban infrastructure and environmental conditions.
