New Delhi: Balmer Lawrie and Company Limited, a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has announced the cessation of Mr. Rajeev Kumar as Non-Executive Director and Government Nominee Director on its Board. The development comes after the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas—Balmer Lawrie’s administrative ministry—officially withdrew his nomination.
Rajeev Kumar Relieved of Director Role After Nomination Withdrawal
In its regulatory communication, Balmer Lawrie confirmed that Mr. Rajeev Kumar’s directorship stands terminated with immediate effect. His exit marks a key board-level change for the company, which has been aligning its governance structure with directives from the ministry.
A Distinguished Career Spanning Over Three Decades
Mr. Rajeev Kumar brings over 31 years of experience in the Government of India across several crucial departments.
He began his career with the Department of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance, contributing significantly to major tax reforms, including:
- Introduction of VAT,
- Compensation mechanisms for States/UTs during VAT rollout,
- Phased reduction of CST,
- Preparatory work toward the implementation of GST.
Key Administrative Roles Across Multiple Ministries
After his tenure in the Ministry of Finance, Kumar served in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), overseeing administrative and financial matters for 11 states under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
He later worked with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), where he managed establishment and administrative operations of the civic body.
Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Secretary (Flagship Programme) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, contributing to major national initiatives and administrative functions across ministries and statutory bodies.
