Rs. 5,200 Crore Rail and Rs. 2,300 Crore Road Projects to Redefine Connectivity
To accelerate physical connectivity in the region, the Central Government has approved railway projects worth Rs. 5,200 crore, including the Raoghat-Jagdalpur line and doubling of the KK railway line (Kottavalasa-Kirandul). These projects will enhance tourism, logistics, and trade while also playing a pivotal role in curbing Naxalism through strategic connectivity.
Additionally, Rs. 2,300 crore worth of road development projects are underway, including the alternative Dhamtari-Kanker-Kondagaon-Jagdalpur-Barsoor-Bijapur route via Abujhmad. These roads will drastically reduce distances between Bastar districts, ensuring the last-mile reach of public services.
NMDC Leads Public Investment with Rs. 43,000 Crore Commitment
Major public sector investments are reshaping Bastar’s economic landscape. NMDC is investing Rs. 43,000 crore, alongside Rs. 2,200 crore for a super-specialty hospital, boosting healthcare access and creating high-value jobs.
In addition, private sector commitments worth Rs. 21,000 crore in sectors like healthcare, MSMEs, agro-processing, dairy, and tourism will promote diversified economic growth.
Health Sector Gets Massive Boost with Multi-Specialty Hospitals
Bastar is witnessing a healthcare revolution:
- Raipur Stone Clinic Pvt. Ltd. is establishing a 350-bed private hospital and medical college in Jagdalpur with Rs. 550 crore investment, creating 200 jobs.
- Navbharat Institute of Medical Sciences will set up a 200-bed multi-super specialty hospital with Rs. 85 crore investment.
- Another multi-specialty hospital worth Rs. 33 crore will further enhance regional health capacity.
These initiatives will transform Bastar into a medical education and healthcare hub for the tribal belt.
Agriculture, Food Processing, and Dairy: Engines of Rural Growth
Investments are pouring into food processing, modern rice mills, and dairy units, enhancing farmer incomes and rural employment:
- Parsva Agritech in Narayanpur will process 2,400 tonnes of parboiled rice annually with Rs. 8 crore investment.
- Bastar Dairy Farm Pvt. Ltd. is investing Rs. 5.62 crore to strengthen milk production and processing.
These units will drive value addition, reduce wastage, and integrate rural communities into modern agri-supply chains.
New Age Industries and MSMEs Powering Industrial Growth
Bastar is rapidly industrializing with diversified investments:
- Shankara Latex Industries is setting up a surgical gloves plant (Rs. 40 crore).
- Units in building materials, woodwork, and furniture like Maa Danteshwari Veneers and Ali Furniture are tapping into Bastar’s traditional crafts.
- Cold storage and logistics hubs in Kanker and Kondagaon are strengthening warehousing and food preservation.
A total of Rs. 2,967 crore in new MSME proposals will generate over 2,100 jobs.
Empowerment Through Government Schemes and Financial Assistance
Under PMFME and PMEGP schemes, substantial grants have been provided to local entrepreneurs, especially from SC/ST and Naxal-affected families. Grants of Rs. 249.50 lakh (PMFME) and Rs. 294.50 lakh (PMEGP) have supported businesses in agro-processing, garment manufacturing, and digital services.
The State Industrial Policy 2024–30 offers up to 45% subsidies on tourism, wellness, and eco-tourism ventures, and an additional 10% subsidy for SC/ST entrepreneurs. Units employing surrendered Naxals are eligible for 40% wage subsidy for 5 years.
Bastar’s Tourism and Hospitality Sector Gaining Global Attention
With tourism now having industry status in Chhattisgarh, projects like Celebration Resorts, Naman Club and Wellness Center, and AS Builders aim to showcase Bastar’s rich tribal culture, biodiversity, and heritage to the world.
Naxal Eradication and Rehabilitation Driving Peace and Growth
Aggressive counter-insurgency and development initiatives are turning the tide:
- 453 Naxals neutralized, 1,611 arrested, and 1,636 surrendered since Dec 2023.
- 65+ security camps, 635 mobile towers, and 21 new roads have been established.
- Rehabilitation policy for surrendered Naxals includes Rs. 2.1 lakh/year, land allotment, vocational training, and housing under PMAY.
CM’s 100+ Visits Signal Strong Political Will for Transformation
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai’s 100+ visits in 20 months under the “Niyad Nella Nar” initiative have brought roads, health centers, education, and digital access to remote tribal areas.
The result: 81,090 Aadhaar cards, 49,239 Ayushman cards, 5,885 Kisan Samman Nidhi, and 98,319 ration cards issued near security camps.

Backed by the Modi Government’s Guarantee, initiatives like increasing tendu leaf procurement rates from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 25,500 per sack are directly benefiting 13 lakh families in the region.
