New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received an upgrade in its long-term credit rating from India Ratings & Research, reflecting the company’s sustained operational and financial performance.
The rating agency has upgraded BHEL’s long-term bank loan facilities to ‘IND AA; Stable’ from ‘IND AA-; Positive’. At the same time, the rating on the company’s short-term bank facilities and commercial paper has been reaffirmed at ‘IND A1+’.
BHEL Long-Term Credit Rating Upgraded
India Ratings & Research has assigned BHEL a long-term rating of ‘IND AA; Stable’, improving it from the earlier ‘IND AA-; Positive’ rating.
The upgrade indicates the rating agency’s assessment of BHEL’s stronger financial position and continued operational performance. The stable outlook also reflects a positive assessment of the company’s ability to maintain its financial strength.
The upgrade covers BHEL’s total long-term bank loan facilities of ₹80,000 crore.

Short-Term Rating Reaffirmed at IND A1+
Along with the long-term rating upgrade, India Ratings has reaffirmed BHEL’s short-term rating at ‘IND A1+’, the highest short-term rating category.
The rating covers the company’s Commercial Paper and unsecured loan facilities amounting to ₹5,000 crore.
The reaffirmation reflects BHEL’s ability to meet its short-term financial obligations and maintain adequate liquidity.
Strong Operational and Financial Performance Supports Upgrade
According to the rating assessment, the upgrade is supported by BHEL’s sustained operational and financial performance.
India Ratings expects the company’s strong performance to continue through FY 2025-26 and the first quarter of FY 2026-27.
The improved credit profile is expected to strengthen confidence among investors and other financial stakeholders while supporting BHEL’s ability to manage its financial obligations.
