Ranchi: Amid ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has formally announced the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Preliminary Examination (PT) in the state. The announcement was made in the Jharkhand Assembly as students continued to demand action over the examination.

Along with the 14th JPSC PT exam, the government has also indicated that several other examinations conducted in 2023 and 2025 will be cancelled. The announcement comes against the backdrop of sustained protests by students seeking a resolution to their concerns.

CM Hemant Soren Announces Cancellation in Assembly

Chief Minister Hemant Soren made the announcement in the Jharkhand Assembly, stating that the 14th JPSC PT examination would be cancelled.

The decision comes at a time when students have been protesting over the examination and demanding action from the state government.

The government’s announcement has brought a significant development to the controversy surrounding the 14th JPSC PT exam. It has also raised expectations regarding the government’s next steps on the students’ other demands.

Other 2023 and 2025 Exams May Also Be Cancelled

Along with the 14th JPSC PT examination, the government has stated that several other examinations conducted in 2023 and 2025 will also be cancelled.

The decision is being viewed in the context of the demands raised by protesting students.

However, the cancellation of the examinations has not fully addressed the concerns of the protesters, with students continuing to press for an independent investigation into the matter.

CBI Investigation Is Students’ Main Demand

Despite the announcement regarding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC PT exam, students have said that their protest is not only about the examination being cancelled.

Their main demand is a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the entire matter.

Students have argued that cancelling the examination alone will not resolve their concerns. They want the issues surrounding the examination to be investigated by the CBI.

Students Say Protest Will Continue

The protesting students have made it clear that their movement could continue until their demand for a CBI investigation is addressed.

The key demands of the students include:

  • Cancellation of the 14th JPSC PT examination
  • Cancellation or action regarding other disputed examinations
  • A CBI investigation into the matter

While the government has formally announced the cancellation of the 14th JPSC PT exam, the students have indicated that this step is not sufficient to end their protest.

What Happens Next in the JPSC Exam Controversy?

Following the cancellation announcement, attention has now shifted to the government’s response to the CBI investigation demand.

If the government and protesting students fail to reach an agreement on the CBI probe, the Jharkhand student movement could continue.

The cancellation of the 14th JPSC PT exam therefore marks an important development, but the dispute may not be resolved until the students’ demand for an investigation is addressed.
