Ranchi, Jharkhand: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said the state government has accepted most of the demands raised by protesting students and is prepared to investigate examination-related irregularities. The statement came amid an ongoing agitation in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations.

The government has also agreed to cancel three JPSC examinations, including the preliminary examination of the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination, while students continue to press for a CBI probe.

Soren Says Most Student Demands Accepted

Speaking in the Jharkhand Assembly, Soren said:

“We have accepted most of the students’ demands. The state’s examination system will be improved. We are ready to get all examinations investigated.”

The government’s position comes after several rounds of discussions with representatives of the protesting students. However, the students have maintained that a CBI investigation remains a key demand.

Three JPSC Examinations Set for Cancellation

The state government has agreed to cancel three JPSC examinations amid the protests. The 14th JPSC Civil Services preliminary examination is among those proposed for cancellation, a demand that had been raised by the protesting students.

Soren also said the government would investigate examinations conducted by TDPL, according to reports on his Assembly statement.

Students Continue to Demand CBI Probe

Students have been protesting in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC. Their demands include cancellation of disputed examinations and an investigation into alleged irregularities.

The government’s agreement to cancel three examinations and examine complaints has not ended the agitation, with student representatives continuing to demand a CBI inquiry.

Protesters March Towards Assembly

On August 10, protesting students marched towards the Jharkhand Assembly as part of their agitation. Police used batons and other crowd-control measures after protesters broke through barricades. Reports said some protesters alleged injuries, while police reported injuries among personnel during the confrontation.

Soren Targets Opposition

During his Assembly remarks, Soren also criticised the Opposition, accusing it of using the students’ agitation for political purposes.

“Just as some parasites arrange different sources of sustenance to survive, they are using the students today to demonstrate their strength…”

Soren also said the government’s position on the examination-related issues was known across the state and accused the Opposition of failing to understand what was appropriate for the younger generation.

Assembly Sees Uproar Over Exam Row

The JPSC-JSSC controversy also led to disruptions in the Jharkhand Assembly, with Opposition members demanding action over the examination issue and the police action during the student protest.

The developments come as the student agitation over recruitment examinations continues in Ranchi, with the CBI probe remaining a point of disagreement between the protesters and the government.
