Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged young people and students not to be misled by political narratives and said that problems can be resolved through dialogue and democratic means.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026 at Morabadi Maidan in Ranchi, Soren said the state government was listening to the concerns of students who were holding protests over their demands and rights.
Soren Calls for Dialogue to Address Youth Concerns
Soren said the government was making efforts to understand their concerns and assured them that action would be taken on irregularities brought to his notice.
“Every problem can be solved through dialogue.”

Soren said an investigation would be conducted into the irregularities that had come to his notice and assured young people that they would receive justice.
CM Assures Students of Transparent Justice
Addressing the students and youth, Soren said the government understood their concerns and would work to ensure justice.
He said: “There will be justice for the youth and students with complete transparency, and not only will justice be done, it will also be seen to be happening.”
The Chief Minister said the government was responsible for protecting the rights of students and ensuring that their concerns were addressed.
He also said that the government was seeking to communicate not only with young people participating in protests but also with those who were concerned about their problems while staying at home.
Soren Warns Youth Against Being Misled
Soren said the issue should not be viewed politically and that students did not need the shelter of political parties to raise their concerns.
He cautioned young people against attempts to confuse them through political messaging and urged them to present their concerns clearly and fearlessly before the government.
The Chief Minister said political parties across the country were looking towards the youth and that efforts were being made to influence the younger generation through different narratives.
He urged students to remain alert and said their demands should be addressed through dialogue and democratic processes.
Government Says It Is Sensitive to People’s Concerns
Soren said the state government was sensitive to the concerns of Jharkhand’s population and was committed to protecting the interests of different sections of society.
He said the government was concerned about everyone, including people living in villages and cities, farmers, workers, women, men and young people.
The Chief Minister said the participation of young people in raising their demands reflected their awareness and their willingness to speak up for their rights.
Tribal Festival Showcases Culture and Heritage
The Chief Minister also spoke about the significance of the Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026, which was organised to showcase the culture, traditions and lifestyles of tribal communities.
He said tribal communities from Jharkhand as well as other parts of the country were participating in the event. Artists, craftsmen and people associated with different fields were also taking part.
The venue featured stalls and displays where tribal communities were presenting aspects of their lifestyle, art, culture, traditions and sources of livelihood.
Soren said the festival was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the heritage, identity and struggles of tribal communities.
Governor’s Presence Highlighted
Soren welcomed Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at the event and described his presence as adding significance to the occasion.
He also referred to the role of the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC), which functions under the guidance of the Governor. According to Soren, the council discusses matters concerning the interests, development and welfare of tribal communities.
Soren Highlights Equality and Jharkhand’s History
The Chief Minister also referred to the Constitution and said it guarantees equal rights to every person, regardless of whether they are rich or poor.
He said social and economic inequalities continue to exist and stressed the need to provide equal opportunities to different sections of society.
Soren also described Jharkhand as a land of people who have historically fought for their rights, identity and freedom. He referred to the state’s history of struggles over water, forests and land, describing these as closely connected with tribal culture and identity.
CM Urges Youth to Remain Vigilant
Soren said young people and society need to remain alert against attempts to spread misleading messages.
He maintained that problems within the country should be addressed through dialogue and democratic processes, saying that force cannot provide a solution to disputes among people within the country.
The Chief Minister also said he did not consider himself separate from the youth and that their concerns were also his concerns.
Festival Marks Tribal Identity and Heritage
Soren said the Tribal Festival was more than an event and provided an opportunity to remember the community’s heritage, struggles and identity.
He expressed hope that the festival would be memorable and inspiring and that tribal communities would move forward with confidence in their identity and heritage.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including state ministers, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, legislators Kalpana Soren and Amit Mahato, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretaries Vandana Dadel and Nitin Madan Kulkarni, along with other officials and people from different parts of the state.
