New Delhi: In a key leadership transition in India’s power sector, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Bhupender Gupta as the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
Background and Appointment Details
Mr Gupta currently serves as Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited and has been holding the additional charge of CMD at SJVN Limited since May 2025. He is expected to assume charge as NHPC’s CMD this week, succeeding Raj Kumar Chaudhary, who retired on June 30, 2025.
A seasoned professional in the power sector, Mr Gupta brings extensive experience in technical operations, project execution, and strategic management. His tenure at THDC has been marked by notable contributions to hydropower and renewable energy initiatives.
