In a major administrative development, nineteen officers of the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) have been officially promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, issued an official notification confirming their inclusion in the Bihar IAS cadre as part of the 2024 selection list.

According to the notification, the President of India has approved the promotion of these officers under the provisions of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954 and the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955. The appointments were made in consultation with the Government of Bihar and will fill existing vacancies within the Bihar IAS cadre.

Mr. Arvind Kumar, Mr. Pramod Kumar, Mr. Vinay Kumar, Mr. Abhay Kumar Singh, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar, Ms. Seema, Dr. Mahendra Pal, Mr. Rashid Kaleem Ansari, Mr. Mohammad Mumtaz Alam, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Mr. Sushant Kumar, Mr. Manoj Kumar Rajak, Mr. Ram Kumar Poddar, Mr. Rajesh Parimal, Mr. Raj Mohan Jha, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Prabhakar, Mr. Dhananjay Kumar, and Mr. Rakesh Kumar.
All selected officers will now serve as IAS officers in the Bihar cadre and have been placed under probation as per standard procedures.

Officials from both the Central and State Governments have welcomed this development, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening the administrative framework of Bihar. The inclusion of experienced BAS officers into the IAS is expected to enhance governance efficiency, accelerate policy implementation, and improve delivery of public services at the grassroots level.
