Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visited Rajgir in Nalanda district on Thursday to review major tourism and sports infrastructure projects. The day-long inspection reflects the state government’s push to transform Rajgir into a key hub for tourism and sports ahead of upcoming international events.
Tourism Infrastructure Gets a Push
The Chief Minister began his visit by inspecting the Karauta–Rajgir tourist road project, which links Rajgir to the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane highway. Aimed at boosting tourist footfall, this project is central to enhancing road connectivity in the region. Mr. Kumar directed officials to expedite construction work, underlining the government’s commitment to timely completion.
International Cricket Stadium Construction in Full Swing
Mr. Kumar then visited the site of the under-construction international cricket stadium being developed under the Bihar Sports Academy. The stadium is being built to international standards, and the CM expressed satisfaction over the pace of the outfield development. The main pavilion structure is complete, while civil works on the East and West stands and the reverse pavilion are nearing completion.

Preparations for Hero Asia Cup Hockey Tournament Reviewed
The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the Hero Asia Cup Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held in Rajgir from August 29 to September 7, 2025. He instructed concerned officials to ensure that all arrangements are made to international standards, keeping in view the significance of hosting a continental-level event.
