Patna: Bihar’s farmers and youth are set to gain significantly from recent government initiatives. The Central Budget 2026-27 promises to modernize agriculture, improve farmer incomes, and strengthen sustainable practices, while the Chief Minister Pratigya Scheme is providing young interns with hands-on work experience in government departments.
Central Budget 2026-27 to Boost Agriculture in Bihar
Bihar Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said that the central budget is a “major step toward empowering farmers” and strengthening agricultural education, research, and innovation. Key highlights include:
- Agriculture Budget Increased: The agriculture department budget has been raised to ₹1,32,561 crore, aiming to reduce production costs and increase farmer income.
- Fertilizer Subsidy: A provision of ₹1,70,944 crore has been made for fertilizer subsidies, ensuring farmers access quality inputs at lower costs.
- Focus on Crop Science and Sustainability: Advanced crop science, natural resource management, and innovative technologies will enhance long-term agricultural sustainability.
The minister emphasized that these measures will make agriculture more modern, profitable, and sustainable, benefiting both farmers and the broader economy.

Strengthening Agriculture Research and Innovation

11 Youth Join Bihar Labour Resources Department Under Chief Minister Pratigya Scheme
In parallel, 11 interns have joined the Labour Resources and Migrant Workers Welfare Department under the Chief Minister Pratigya Scheme. The scheme is designed to provide practical work experience aligned with the interns’ academic qualifications.
Internship Details and Roles
- Social Media Associate: 2 interns
- Legal and Policy Associate: 3 interns
- Labour Welfare Associate: 3 interns
- Finance and Accounts Associate: 3 interns
Labour Commissioner Rajesh Bharti stated that the scheme is a “significant initiative to connect youth with the administrative process” and wished the interns a bright professional future.
Stipend and Benefits for Interns
Interns receive a monthly stipend based on their education:
- Class 12 pass: ₹4,000
- ITI/Diploma: ₹5,000
- Graduate/Postgraduate: ₹6,000
Additional allowances are provided for out-of-district or out-of-state internships:
- Within Bihar, outside home district: ₹2,000 per month (first 3 months)
- Outside Bihar: ₹5,000 per month for the full duration
